Hennessey Venom GT2 – 1,500bhp bi-turbo V8 Confirmed for 2014!

As if the Bugati Veyron’s 1,000+bhp wasn’t enough – well it can never be enough can it? Not so with Hennessey Performance and their Lotus-based Venom GT and GT2 The Venom GT2 will be getting upgrades rather than being replaced, and though there’s no full technical details for the GT2 at the moment, one things for certain – an additional 300 ponies will be added to the GT2’s previous 1,200bhp as well as some aesthetic upgrades for eye-candy.

That’s right, you read it correctly – be prepared for a stampede of 1,500 horses from the GT2’s 7.0L, Twin-Turbo V8 powerplant coupled to a 7-speed transmission with paddle-shifters. Apparently, the 1,500bhp figure is rather significant since it’s the same number that represents the car’s kerb weight, now how uncanny was that? Or was it?

In addition, there’s going to be more head-room to be had thanks to a double-bubble roof and some aero improvements that sees an improvement to its aerodynamic efficiency, dropping its Cd (Coefficient of Drag) from 0.44Cd to 0.42Cd.

Hennessey is saying that the new update for the GT2 will be making in an official appearance sometime in late 2013-early 2014 with a price tag around US$1.25 million and the paddle shifters are an additional US$165,000 option.
