Like most supercars of today, sooner or later a topless version will surely follow to feed the driver with the sensational soundtrack played by the screaming engine resting at the driver’s back. And to those wanting to enjoy the bellow of Lamborghini’s new V12 with the wind blowing through their hair, the wait is finally over as the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster is here.
With two removable carbon-fiber hard top pieces that weighs a mere 6kg, the Aventador gets to keep its aggressive, sharp lines by not using the metal-framed soft top like the Murcielago roadster. This lightweight roof can be easily removed and stored in the front luggage compartment for a more satisfying experience cruising in a bad boy supercar.
The new Roadster still houses the same 6.5-liter V12 with 691-horsepower, sent to all the four wheels through a seven-speed ISR automated manual. And like most roadsters, the absence of the roof hunkers down this new Aventador with an extra weight of 50kg due to structural strengthening. But it could have been heavier as Lamborghini had shed another 10kg by replacing the standard rims to the lightweight forged aluminum rims.
The whole package gives the Roadster a 0-100 time in 3 seconds, a 0.1 second increase compared to the normal Aventador, but the top speed remains the same at 350km/h. At RM 1.17 million, this sexy new Roadster is RM 175,300 pricier than its coupe brother, but surely one would not mind that to enjoy the addictive V12 concerto unobstructed.
