Google Exec Wins the Bid to the Ferrari 599XX Evo

The 6.1 magnitude quake that had struck Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region back in May had left a terrible trail of destruction, leaving scores of people dead and the city in rubbles. In order to help the victims to get back onto their feet, Ferrari had stepped into the scene by holding an international auction to raise funds through their Ferrari online store.

And among the unique items that Ferrari had put on for the auction also includes a super-rare 599XX Evo hypercar, which for a colossal sum of € 1.4 million (RM 5.5 million) saw Google’s executive Benjamin Sloss winning the bid to the keys of this track-only monster. Having specifically requested the car to be painted in bright yellow, the Californian resident received the hypercar at a special event during the recent Italian Grand Prix in Monza by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo. Also making an appearance during the event were Ferrari’s F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

Although the 599XX Evo was specifically designed to be an ultra-fast track car, it is not to be used in any official competitions. This is more like a test bed where Ferrari puts in most of their advanced racing gadgetry to squeeze out the full potential of the car. Housing a V12 that churns out a massive 740-horsepower coupled with active aerodynamics and Ferrari’s High-Performance Dynamic Concept adjustable suspension, lapping the Nurburgring could be done in a blistering time of 6:58.16.

In receiving this one-of-a-kind machine, Sloss also expressed his delight in being able to contribute to the cause along the way. Overall, the online auction managed to raise a total amount of USD 2.3 million (RM 7.07 million), in which all of them will be distributed to the victims in the affected areas.
