Boon Siew Honda to Bring in the Air-Catching CRF250L – (RM22,688 Nett)

Boon Siew Honda has just revealed the new CRF250L that’s considered by Honda to be a dual-purpose bike that’s both capable of playing in the dirt as well as on the streets with its light weight, a nimble feel and comfortable ergonomics – all of which combines to give you practicality.

Featuring  a semi-double cradle steel frame chassis to handle all that dirt-riding abuse, the wheelbase gives it loads of both stability and agility whilst supporting a pillion and a 5kg load. Within the chassis lies a newly developed liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder 250cc DOHC engine that provides 23bhp at 8,500rpm and 22Nm of torque at 7,000rpm on a kerb weight of just 144kg (dry).

The lightweight and compact engine is also responsive, due to the internal dimensions of the throttle body and exhaust pipe. Combustion efficiency is enhanced with an iridium spark plug along with precise metering fuel from the Programmed Fuel Injection system (PGM-FI). The new CRF250L has a new six-speed gearbox and clutch, designed to cope with the extra abuse that’s synonymous with off-road riding that gives it the reputation of an off-road traveller.

The new CRF250L has superb handling capabilities, maintaining correct rigidity balance, which is suitable for use over a wide range of terrain and speeds. The braced handlebar provides an upright and relaxed riding posture, with plenty of leverage, and a 45° turning angle on either side allows for a tight turning circle that’s particularly useful when dealing with urban traffic or tight trails.

Honda further boasts that its brake-system has also been tuned to offer a high level of control, making maneuvers precise and giving full control to the rider. Pro-Link rear suspension and Showa shock absorbers, together with the new CRF250L’s 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels add to this great sense of control, increasing stability on rough terrain.

The slim fuel tank can hold 7.7 litres, and is enclosed by a comfortable flat seat that allows you to adjust yourself to a your preferred riding-position for maximum control. Seat height is 875mm.

The cooling system uses a 10.7 kW heat-release radiator that is protected with the use of a polypropylene grill baffle to help improve airflow. A thin guide-ring cooling fan is used to keep temperatures consistent at low speeds especially when navigating through heavy traffic or tricky off-road situations. Carbon emissions are managed with an O2 Lambda sensor, which works together with a secondary air injection system – comlying with Euro III Emission Regulations.

The Honda CRF250L comes in Extreme Red with a Nett selling price of RM22,688 and will be available at the end of August.
