BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept

Rumoured to be lined up for an appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2013, is the 4 Series (F32) that may come in two forms – a coupe and a hard-top convertible as BMW look to adjust its categorizations to segregate their sportier variants from their more executive 3-Series (F30) line-up.

With that, BMW has released some photos and information about the up-coming car which seems to suggest that it may not be that long before it finally makes it’s official debut – probably as a 2014 model.

At first glance, you can pretty much detect the presence of the 3-Series’ DNA in the 4-Series Concept coupe, though it does seem a tad more sleeker than the 3, the wheel-base has been stretched some 50mm more, lowered by 16mm and 44mm has been finally added to its width.

In short, it seems there’s going to be more room for the shoulders at the expense of head room with the ability to hug the corners a little better than before, since there’s suggestions that it may don some rather large 20″ set of rims for some added eye-candy.

Details are sketchy for the moment, but it may seem likely that whatever is powering the current 3-Series could find its way under the hood of the (probably) upcoming 4-Series – a 240bhp turbo four-banger or perhaps the turbo inline-6 that provides for 340 ponies.

At current there’s even rumours that an M4 version may already be in the pipeline to make its debut sometime in mid-2014, but we’re pretty certain that the M3’s name will still go – though it may seem in sedan form for the future and until it reaches crunch time, BMW still insists that the concept 4-Series Coupe is still just a concept.
