Subaru’s version of the FT-86 to drop AWD laout

Toyota has already revealed the FT-86 while Subaru’s own version of the very same car still remains nothing but words, spy shots and rumours. And it continues with reports about development costs of the Subaru coupe that apparently have sky-rocketed to unbearable limits. To counter this, Subaru is purported to be dropping it’s legendary all-wheel-drive layout. If this turns out to be true, then the difference between the FT-86 and the Subaru Coupe will be limited to aesthetics only.
It was also reported that efforts are already underway to substantially differentiate the two models, but even so, this situation leaves us confused. Is Subaru really going to be ditching its AWD layout for RWD? Having two models that share the same powertrain and underpinnings isn’t the most ideal product plan in this unpredictable times and there really isn’t much that can be done to entice buyers to choose one model over the other when the only difference is the design. There’s also the case of Subaru’s PR team being faced with the herculean task of putting up a spin on why the car does not feature AWD, a layout that has been a Subaru trademark for years.
So while Subaru works out a way to convince us that its okay for a Subaru to be RWD, lets hear what you have to say about it.

I suggest subaru should just make their version much cheaper than the toyota’s 1 and kick their ass
if the price between toyota and subaru isn’t that big a difference i’ll choose the subaru any day.

what’s the point? same car different make. it just comes down to brand loyalty. as it stands, the comments above show that the majority here would choose a subaru over a toyota.
who care is RWD or AWD, juz make sure pedal wont stick on floor like toyota!!
