What’s Next For Toyota?

With a racing history that dates back to the early years of the company, Toyota’s departure from Formula One certainly does not signal the end of it’s racing ambitions. Even with the scrapping of the Formula One team, Toyota continues to race in series as diverse as Formula Nippon, NHRA, Grand Am, Super GT and NASCAR. There’s even speculation that Toyota will be competing in Le Mans, in the new FIA GT1 World Championship or possibly in the World Rally Championship. So for Toyota racing fans, Formula One does not signal the beginning of the end but the beginning of racing road cars again. Here’s a video commemorating those early years and some.

Maybe they can go into World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Imagine IS250 touring car... wicked.

Look at the Supergt Racing Project Bandoh IS350. Looks great and the best part is..... 2009 is the first year in this car. They have won the driver and team title for 2009.

Another good news for Toyota. In GT500 class
Lexus Team Petronas Tom's SC430 also took the driver and team title for 2009.

So in GT300 and GT500 Lexus took the top honors. Despite heavy competition from Nissan GTR.

I wonder what cars is next for their races. The current crop of cars looks boring. TTE have some nice coupes. But the cars remain there and doesn't even exist in Japan!
