Want To Drive A Gallardo Around Sepang? Then Show Us What You Got

main

Are you a car nut with an eye for design and a heart for charity? If so then this is for you. A charity competition in support of the Poverty Reduction Program was recently launched. Aptly themed ‘Paint My Ride’, the competition works as a platform for young creative minds to show off their talents by designing a paint scheme for the Lamborghini Gallardo.

Organised by the Narine Poverty Reduction Program (Naporee), this charity initiative aims to develop skills in the underprivileged for life-long opportunities to generate income and sustainability. This will enable and equip the underprivileged to be able to deploy the best effect their talent, knowledge, resourcefulness and creativity to improve their life chances.

The competition requires its participants to come up with the most creative and original design for the Lamborghini Gallardo. The three winning designs will then be transferred onto the surface of the Gallardo and showcased at places like One Utama and the Pavilion. Winners will also receive the ultimate treat any car loving designer could want besides owning a supercar – the chance to drive the Lamborghini Gallardo around the Sepang International Circuit.

Besides that the top three winning entries will also receive cash prizes – RM 5000 for 1st place, RM3000 for 2nd place and RM1000 for 3rd place – student winners will also be offered internships at an accredited advertising agency for four to six weeks. Fourth and fifth place will receive a honorary mention prize worth RM500 cash each and in addition to that their designs will be showcased online and the winners will also be driven around the Sepang International Circuit in a GT race car by a yet to be named professional driver.

The competition is open to all interested individuals; with categories for students or professionals. The competition will begin on 11th December 2009 until 31st January 2010, upon which time the international panel of judges, put together by the 4As (Association of Accredited Advertising Agents), begin their judging.

Applications can be submitted via fax or email; instructions will be posted on the website www.paintmyride.org when the competition begins. The application fees are RM 300 for the students as well as RM 500 for the open category.

Proceeds garnered from various activities carried out during and post competition will be allocated to micro-projects for Poverty Reduction, under the Lions Club of Sentul as the host charity organization.

Sponsors and partners include, Lenovo, One Utama, Pavilion, Red Bull, Microsoft, Canon, People Equation, Motorsport Playground, Original Intelligence, The Peak, EVO Malaysia, and Citrine One.

haha... no comments. wonder why?

dear contest organiser, if feedback is what u're seeking, then read this.

designers aren't rich people (you should know better - what's your advertising budget?). a rm300 / rm500 entry fee, though noble in cause is ridiculous! lower the entry fees and i guarantee you'll have more entries - and probably garner more proceeds.

if money for charity is what you ultimately want, look to your Lions Club members for that, they're not designers ;)

let's see, RM300 for a chance to drive an exclusive and inaccessible car like a Lamborghini around a professional race track... and it's too expensive, not to mention the cash prizes, the recognition, the internship, the display of my design to millions of people around the world just for entering the contest...

junnabe, eblezz, I think you guys focus on the wrong things... RM300 for students is very reasonable! I don't have the funds but will find a way to work for it or earn "sponsorship" from friends, family, neighbors!

Besides, it's in support of a good cause...
