The commercial vehicle landscape in Malaysia recently received a significant boost with the addition of several new models by MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (www.mtbm.com.my) at The Saujana in Subang, Selangor. MAN, a multi-award-winning leading German commercial vehicle producer, launched the Cargo Line A series.

Aimed at business owners seeking middle-sized trucks for a variety of transportation solutions, the vehicles come with the features that have made MAN a leading commercial vehicle in Europe. MAN vehicles are synonymous with reliability, robustness and technological superiority.

“The CLA range was developed to cater for the industries where the market potential is untapped by the European brands but heavily dominated by the Japanese makes, principally in the rigid chassis segment,” said Eric Coste, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd. “It is a product designed by our German engineers to maintain highest quality standard, but produced in Asia to ensure price competitive level.”

Gracing the launch was Datuk Seri Zakaria Bin Haji Bahari, Secretary-General, Ministry of Transport Malaysia.

The new models launched encompass a selection of chassis depending on requirements – a hauler, a tipper and a mixer (the 4×2 chassis, 6×4 tipper & 6×4 mixer). Also unveiled was the MAN TGA 6×2 Prime Mover, which is a variation of an existing model available here (a different axle).

With Cargo Line A, a new star has emerged in the world of transportation. Specially-produced for markets outside the EU, the truck meets highest requirements of reliability, robustness, and long service life. The CLA opens up a new dimension of cost-effectiveness. Made with established and proven MAN technology, the CLA’s road performance, comfort and safety features stand tall.

“We wanted to develop a product not too high in technology but robust enough, reliable enough and of course with functionality for the application,” added Coste.

“Beside the CLA, we also take the opportunity today to unveil in the premium segment our state-of-the-art MAN TGA 6X2 Prime Mover which is tailor-made to meet the highest demand & safety standards of the petroleum industry, including ABS/ASR, stringent ADR, air suspension, on-board diagnostics and unparalleled comfort, which will help reduce driver fatigue and increase safety.”

“In line with our expansion plans, MAN Worldwide have recently embarked on a Customer Proximity program, and this month the program has started in Malaysia.”

William Lee, President & CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, Asia Pacific, said “With the establishment of the Regional Operating Headquarter (ROH) in Bangkok we are firmly in Asia Pacific. We can respond and support MAN Truck & Bus Malaysia faster and more effectively with a full team of specialists in their respective fields.”

The chassis, mixer and tipper trucks are available for weights ranging from 18 tons to 26 tons, and are built to cope with challenging and rough operating conditions. The CLA’s handling as well as mechanical and electronic systems are designed to be particularly user-friendly.

The excellent driving dynamics are one of the CLA’s outstanding features. Smooth-running, operating-safety, long life-expectancy and low maintenance costs are part and parcel of the positive features of the power unit. Six-cylinder engines in Euro 3 deliver the power needed for exacting transport work. Comfort-shift 9-gear transmission units transfer this power to the drive axle. These are stable and rugged planetary axles designed for maximum payload and tough, rugged use.

MAN’s CLA mission statement makes MAN build reliable trucks at competitive prices that will be delivered fast and ready to use. Quality meets regional requirements and standards.

All this in line with MAN’s slogan – “Get in and get going!”
