Aston Martin Shows Off The Completed Cygnet

Aston Martin Cygnet

A few months ago we showed you photos of Aston Martin designers working on a small Aston Martin that was touted to be the first small Aston built for city commuting rather than continent cruising, think Smart ForTwo and you get the idea. In fact the car that the Aston engineers were working on was a clay-covered Toyota iQ, proving that city commuting is what it’s being built for.

Though the idea of a small, city commuting Aston seems preposterous for now, the guys at Aston Martin are thinking otherwise and have actually completed work on what is called the Cygnet and here are the first batch of photos.

The Cygnet sports the trademark Aston Martin grille that is reminiscent of it’s older siblings like the DBS and Vantage and I think that it actually looks pretty good though the idea of a Toyota iQ carrying the Aston badge needs some getting used to. Inside it’s typically Aston Martin with a plush interior covered in red and black premium leather.

Before you start getting all excited or dissing the Cygnet for being a rebranded Toyota iQ, it’s important for you to know that the Cygnet is still just a concept but Aston says it hopes to get the car in production for 2010 for European and UK customers so don’t dismiss the Cygnet just yet, it could just turn out to be a very desirable little car.
