Nissan GTR Spec-V: More Details, Live Shots, And Video
January 11, 2009

Nissan recently launched a faster version of its beloved GTR and it’s creating all the hype that the original one did when it was launched. Thanks to the guys over at GTRBlog and AutoBlog, we are bringing to you more information, live pictures and a video on the GTR V-Spec or Spec-V, whichever one you like.

Peak output remains the same, at 478 horsepower, but a switch on the right of the steering wheel (shared with the cruise control) activates an electronic circuit to boost mid-range torque by 15 lb-ft (up to 449 lb-ft). A green light illuminates on the dash when the overboost function is enabled, giving drivers 80 seconds to perform any overtaking maneuvers, and then defaulting back to the standard setting.

The SpecV’s carbon ceramic brakes were developed in conjunction with Brembo and are painted silver to differentiate the upgraded stoppers from the standard GT-R. Although the six-piston (front) caliper size remains the same, the discs have been upgraded to 390mm (15.35 inches) and fitted with SpecV specific brake pads. Nissan claims a weight savings of 5kg per corner and –2.0 Gs worth of stopping power, but the system comes at a cost: US$45,000.

The 20-inch RAYS forged aluminum wheels – the same units offered on the NISMO Clubsports GT-R — also contribute to the overall weight savings, which comes in 60kg lighter than the standard model at 1,680kg. As mentioned in our previous post, Nissan replaced several components with lightweight carbon fiber, including the seats, interior trim (even the seat-back adjuster), grille and brake ducts, along with the trick dry carbon fiber rear wing (coated in clear matte paint) that increases downforce.

The Bilsteins have been retuned to be more responsive on the racetrack and the engine cover has been replaced with a SpecV-only piece. The standard GT-R hues are available, but if you want to stand out, the Ultimate Opal Black paint job will set you back an additional US$6,100.

Nissan hasn’t released 0-100 or quarter mile times yet, but we expect some official figures in the coming weeks. And as for a Nurburgring time… just you wait.

are u sure breaking system for this car is USD45000, this is damn expensive
so how much the whole car will cost
thats just small investment for those who really got the moolahs to buy it
about 630k in our money. that’s in japan mind you.
whatever it is, this car is the ULTIMATE!
No increase in bhp? Only 60kg lighter with few not too big-deal enhancements?
Ultimate Opal Black = midnight purple. Yum yum…
so what the figure will be?
RM1mil for this??..considering the ceramic brakes already cost rm120k?
I think its USD4500 …thats more or less in line with those ceramic brakes in porsche and ferrari…
Factory tuned or aftermarket tuned? So you decide with the money.
follow the source.. the brakes are stated to cost US45,000.. If it were US4,500.. That just translates to RM16,000.. For ceramic brakes? Really?
I guess US$45k is a bit pricey, with the consideration that ferrari only selling that option for US$16k for F430…..
USD$45k pretty much made it the most expensive option around in forbes:

I think it might be true. Even Brembo Sport calipers for beemers can fetch up to RM 15,000..depending on size. And thats not even ceramic..
referring to the photo of the dash, whats that green light/indicator ? Looks like a turbine to me!! haha…does it glow red? or does it spin?
This car is my dream – I am literally willing to trade one of my internal organs for it… any takers?
