New Toyota Camry Launched in Malaysia – Available Today!
September 4, 2009

The Toyota Camry is one of the most successful Toyota models in Malaysia. It accounts for around 10% of total Toyota sales this year and for the past seven months, UMW Toyota Motor has sold more than 4,300 units of the Camry. With the launch of the new model, it looks set to continue its success as Malaysia’s leading executive sedan with refreshed features, styling and accessories.

The new Camry will continue to offer all three variants as before; 2.4V, 2.0G and 2.0E, but the difference between the new and old variants lay in the changes made to the exterior. These changes include a redesigned front grill which now has a larger Toyota emblem and larger proportions which gives a wider appearance as well as a lower stance. The front bumper has also been redesigned and now has more proportionate upward flowing lines.

The redesigned headlamps now feature High Intensity Discharge (HID) projectors (only available for the 2.0G and 2.4V only). The rear brake lights have also been redesigned and now come with LED’s that offer a stronger and quicker illumination.

The upgraded rims now sport new designs. As before, the 2.0E and 2.0G have 16-inch wheels while the 2.4V has 17-inch wheels. The new designs give greater differentiation between the versions and have a greater number of spokes which are slimmer than those in the previous designs.

The new Camry will also offer new features that include a Smart Entry & Start System where the key will only have to be in one’s pocket instead of a traditional crank start and physical remote entry. This feature will only be available on the 2.4V but other features like cruise control and an Auxiliary (AUX) Jack that enables portable music devices to be connected will be offered throughout the range.

As for the interior, the Camry 2.0E gets a new seat fabric with subtly etched and printed surface where else the 2.0G and 2.4V have special leather upholstery that allow breathing and remain cool even when parked under the sun. The Optitron instrument panel, noted for its size and clarity, has new meter designs with revised calibrations that enhance visibility at a glance. The acrylic rings also have concentric circles which give a distinctive appearance to the panel. Also revised are the scales for the speedometer and tachometer.

The new Camry will also offer a new colour (grey metallic) to go along with the standard five body colour choices that are already available. But due to popular demand, the 2.0E will now be available in Pearl White, a colour that was reserved only for the 2.0G and 2.4V before.

The on-the-road price with insurance for private registration of the new Toyota Camry is as follows:
2.4V – RM174,990.00
2.0G – RM154,990.00
2.0E – RM144,990.00
The new Camry is now available for booking at all Toyota Outlets nationwide.
