730hp BMW M5 by Lumma Design

German tuning company – Lumma Design has came up with yet another engineering marvel, this time in the form of a E60 BMW M5 that has taken on massive tuning to produce some crazy numbers.

The result of Lumma’s job stands at 730hp produced by a bi-compressor V10 engine. The dual compressors and other tweaks help the car see of the 100km mark in 4.2 seconds, 200km in 10 seconds and 300km is achieved in 29.5 seconds. Top speed is rated at a very very intimidating if not wonderful 367km/h.

Lumma claims that it’s powerplant is the “most powerful engine” ever seen on a road-legal BMW. Lumma’s previous work was on another M5 that was dubbed the CLR 500 RS. This took place back in 2007 and the car managed a very puny by comparison 560 horses.

Certainly, these figures require non-stock brakes. Lumma Design’s own six-piston front, four-piston rear caliper brakes are used along with drilled 405mm discs. Ultralight, three-piece forged 10×21 and 12Jx21 wheels at the nose and tail look great on the 45mm lowered car.

To help retard 730 horses, new brakes were needed, so Lumma replaced the stock brakes with it’s own six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers at the rear along with drilled 405mm discs at either ends.

To help with the aesthetics of the car, a number of swaps were done and that started with the rims – ultralight, three-piece forged 10×21 and 12Jx21 wheels replace the standard ones and look great with the car having been lowered by 45mm.

Dubbed the CLS 730 RS, the differentiation begins with a new design package that includes a car fiber hood and booth, door handles, entrance sills, fenders, mirror caps and the package also replaces the exhaust system.

It’s a whole different issue inside though, the color scheme may be customizable but the contrasting red, white, and dark grey seen in this car is a little too hard on the eye. Other than that, it’s hard to find fault with a car that packs 730hp without actually driving it. For more information, visit Lumma Design.
