2010 Porsche 911 GT3RS Unofficially Laps Nurburgring in 7m33s – Gets Closer To GTR

Porsche is hard at work at chasing the elusive GTR around the Nurburgring and in the process, the GT3RS has posted a new best time. Evo magazine UK is reporting the new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3RS has unofficially lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7min 33sec.

As for GTR fans, there is nothing to worry about yet as Godzilla is still a good six seconds faster but compared to the regular 911 GT3, the new RS is a full seven seconds quicker.

There is no information on the test-driver as the man was not named but track conditions were reported as having “some light traffic” and the timing telemetry showed a theoretical best lap of 7min 30sec.

As the development process continues, the lap times get lower and closer to the GTR. If you remember, it was about a year ago that Porsche disputed Nissan’s claims of having achieved 7m 29s with the then newly launched GTR which was 20kg’s heavier than the 911 Turbo. The drama continued with Porsche accusing Nissan of modifying its test car or using other tyres. Nissan fired back by releasing photos of the tyres used as well as in-car video footage with timer display.

Now, almost a year later, the GTR has gone on to better its own time to a astonishing 7m 26.7s and Porsche is still at its drawing board, slowly by surely chipping away at the GTR’s time.
