20 Years of Blood, Guts & Gore: This is Why You Shouldn’t Drink and Drive

December 13, 2009

I never understood the logic of negative education films. Even in our beloved Malaysia we have such videos that use blood, guts and gore to scare us away from drinking and drive, smoking or other “social illnesses”. But we don’t have it as bad as the Aussie’s do. Here’s a a compilation of the best of the Australian Transport Accident Commission and it goes back as far as 20 years ago. Now this is what I don’t understand, why do they do such things ? Now I’m not sure if I understand more about not drinking and driving or I understand more about staying away from such gory videos because they just make me sick to the stomach. Watch for yourself and tell us what you think.

maybe this is to teach us to not drink and drive?

why is it so hard for u to understand?

just when u were a little kid, u were so stupid, and your mum adviced u nicely to study, but u kept on getting drunk and skipping school so your mum had to take another step which was to hit u ,right? But u still ended up being stupid because of your low iq since u were born.

so that is an example of why they make videos like this.

hope u are smart enough to understand :) hehe no hard feelings :)

where are the guts & gore?

  6. loctite_supra says:

it’s good editing and really ’strong’ message to people. Eps its shows true ‘reality’ that happen after accident occur from their spouse or third party family of the person who they hit it. It feel so deep when its happen to a pregnant lady (03:05) and of couse the beloved one. I personally think that this is the best way ‘nowdays’ to show or teach today people to drive safely and think what would happen to the people around us when accident occur. Good driver, just drive….

  7. AXXeLL says:

damn thats a slapping wake up call for me… 0.0!

no heavy party for christmas !

  8. xdjwannabex says:

  9. roy says:

    Hamza:

I still can’t stomach how graphic it is though.. Maybe it’s my low IQ.. no hard feelings taken.. ;)

  11. tac says:

i doubt the effectiveness of such educational film. it wont mean a thing if the audience has a thick skull. the best is always the “real stuff”.

so here is a video i found in youtube long ago. imagine this, you’re the driver (drunk obviously) skidded and crashed into a pole. car was in flame and you’re the only one survived while your friend is burned alive right in front of you.

    this is the title if you wanna search for it;

  12. ghohz says:

is it really hard to not drink n drive?..
drink responsibly..or not to drink at all..

  13. Bass5station says:

This video is definitely effective. Better than anything i have seen that has come out from our government to deter such a problem. Yes, perhaps it is a tad cinematic, but hey, the point was put forth quite concisely.

  14. GTi says:

U can promote ‘responsible drinking’ all u want, till the cows come home, whatever… but, there ALWAYS… ALWAYS gonna be ONE guy/gal who drinks just ONE too many and causes sadness, anger and pain… achohol does more harm than good… nuff said…

  15. Bryan says:

I think tis video is awesome..Guys reality bites man..not only drinkin, I haf a few drove recklessly died at da scene leavin their wifes n children behind..think abt tat man..

Tis is no daytona video game or Playstation where u can reset da game..

  16. Moon says:

With the emotional cues of fear, guilt and curiosity, the message being conveyed will tend to be retained in our long term memory and because of that, viewers will discuss on it and take some time to consider the message being conveyed.

  17. jun says:

Malaysians never learn. I doubt campaigns like this will make them learn either.

  18. Bryan says:

Have my malaysian friends..some will start considering..

  19. Damond says:

Always think of our love one when we are on the wheel, it will remind us to drive safe.

  20. alantan says:

i’ve gotta said this..stuff like tis is good for the people..it may not hit the audience 100% but good enough to reduce some of us.

Sometime, its just the little mr.ego in yourself that is ignorance..but get that out sometime and put it into the right mind, this stuff would help not just you but the others ( your pears ) …

its not just a simple reminder..its telling you to think what is right and what is not..do the right thing at the right time..this could be right.

  21. EcstacyElmo says:

its a good video, but for the Ozzies.
our culture and language barrier wouldn’t really understand it.
if we want a video like this, its got to be made in Malaysia to send the message thru some thick skull
i’d like to see very graphic accident ads on those stupid Mat Rempits
but then again, even if we had videos like this on national TV, it would be largely ignored. IMO.
but to those who watch it and are affected into safe driving, its good.

  22. NilsoN says:

anyone gt the video link for this clips,so meaningful hope can share with my frens.and drive carefully all!

  23. HaZaRd says:

    stop drink and drive safely…

  24. r@p says:

human being is a stubborn/silly living creature. we need to feel the pain to become wise/grown up. this video is a good reminder..

  25. cosanostra92 says:

waaaa…18SG advertisement…violent weyh!!but the message is well received laa..we have 1 advertisement like this..it’s about smoking..usually appear when watching BPL at 812 or 813…LOL

  26. PocketRocket says:

God gave us choices,, good or bad, we have to live up to it.

  27. metalheads says:

keshy.. can disable the auto play? thanks.. it keeps on playing when i login.. =(

  28. keshy says:

ask and ye shall receive.. it’s done..

  29. Think says:

There is no such thing as ‘responsible drinking’ …. once you drink…you’ll be stupid and you’ll drink some more, then you drunk…then you die or make other people die because you stupid to drink…

the point is, just dont drink that tasty poison……
