BMW To Build One-Off M5 CSL

The M5 is turning 25 and BMW is celebrating in a very special way because no cake no matter how grand will ever justify 25 years of the Magnificent 5. As a gift to itself, BMW is building a one-off CSL version of the E60 super saloon M5 that Albert Biermann, head of BMW’s M division calls, “the M5 CSL we never built.”
At the heart of the M5 CSL will be the usual 5.0-liter V10 of the regular M5 but to serve the special occasion, it will be stroked to 5.5-liters and will be fitted with a carbon fiber intake, and a secondary oil cooler. There’s no news on power figures but Biermann says the mods are good for up to 580-hp and 400lb-ft of torque over the standard 507hp engine. Read more

Ultima GTR Smashes Ferrari FXX Top Gear Track Record

When Top Gear refused to feature the Ultima GTR because they thought it couldn’t clear a speed bump, the guys at Ultima took matters into their own hands. They acquired private access to the track, then went on to shatter the Michael Schumacher-piloted Ferrari FXX’s time by nearly a second.
And to drive home the fact that the Ultima GTR is a road-worthy supercar slayer, Ultima drove the GTR to and from the Top Gear track in Surrey, a feat the track-only Ferrari FXX is unable to match.
The Ultima GTR holds the Guinness world record for 0-160-0 km/h, the acceleration and braking run is completed in just 9.4 seconds. The GTR is powered by a 720hp Chevy small block engine and weighs in at just 98-kg. For comparison, the FXX makes 860hp and weighs 1155kg. Goodyear Malaysia is showcasing it’s 3,000hp dragster to all at Euphoria (Ministry of Sound) in Sunway Resort on the 30th of October (Friday) from 8pm to 12am. It will also make a very special appearance at the Sepang Drag Battle at the Sepang International Circuit the following day (31st Oct).

2011 Subaru Coupe: Renderings and Details

We’ve already seen the Toyota FT-86 concept but hardly anything has been said or shown about the Subaru twin. Till now. Japan’s Best Car magazine has come up with these speculative renderings of the Subaru coupe and it’s looking good. Accompanying these images are rumours of the Subaru retaining it’s traditional all-wheel-drive setup and a turbocharged boxer engine.
If you’re not surprised by these rumours, lets go back to when Toyota and Subaru first announced they were working on a mutual model. The two Japanese automakers made it clear back then that both models will feature a rear-wheel-drive setup. Read more
