Video: Electric Powered Tesla Roadster vs Lotus Elise

picture-21

The future of the automobile is electric. That or bio fuel or whatever it is that scientists are working on. That’s all very green and nice but the problem is, the cars that are powered by these “alternative sources” are rather boring. Both in terms of looks and power. That’s before the Tesla came along.

Based on the Lotus Elise the electric powered motor of the Tesla allows for 248hp with a max torque of 276lb-ft. That results in a 0-100 time of just 3.9 seconds but top speed is rated at a puny 200km/h. And it’s not limited.

Jeremy Clarkson got his hands on two Tesla Roadsters and did the right thing – he pit the Tesla against its petrol powered cousin – the Lotus Elise. The results are quite shocking especially the fact that the Tesla lapped a damp Top Gear track in the same time as a Porsche 911 GT3. Check out the video below to believe.

Imagine driving with the full works, etc. a/c, lights and radio... wonder how far it'll go?

But can't deny that it's a beautiful looking car...
