Rendering: 2010 BMW M3 CSL

bmw_m3cslWe here at zerotohundred.com are huge fans of the M3 CSL, having great moments of everything with our E46 M3 CSL and trust us, very few cars come close to it in terms of raw speed, brutality, driving dynamics and all out character. So its with great expectations and excitement we announce to you that this is how the next generation M3 CSL may look like.

Nearly a year ago, BMW M Divisions Vice President Gerhard Richter confirmed that BMW is interested in building a successor to the highly acclaimed, lightweight, E46 M3 CSL, and now, the first hint emerges thanks to German automotive magazine, Autozeitung.

With a revised front bumper, carbon fiber hood and rear air intakes as well as plenty of other go fast gadgets, the E92 CSL is expected to completely blow away the legendary E46 CSL, which by the way just happens to be quicker than the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale around the Nurburgring, so those are some big shoes to fill. But judging from the direction BMW is heading with their motorsport divison and impressive results in F1, the E92 CSL is expected to be nothing less than mind blowing, it is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine so it won’t be too difficult to make it quick, but since its a CSL, it’s the entire package that matters, not just speed.

I'm a proud owner of an e46 m3 csl, which I wouldnt swap for anything below £100,000!!it really is that big of a buzz to drive one these amazing machines!! I just hope they improve the quality of sum of the components on these machines!!eg: the diff, alternator, gearbox, clutch, springs!!to name a few!!also the spiriling cost of servicing these things!!last one was £1200!! Other than that there totally brilliant and exillerating to drive!!even better for scaring people with the induction roar on downshifts!!!just hope the e92 csl has the same level of driving experience!!!should be awesome!!

sorry I didn't reply sooner mate!!been on holiday!personally I wouldnt trade mine in for one.they've gone a bit soft for me!!I like the hardcore, stripped out,no nonsense of the csl.it may be slightly quicker in a straight line, but if your lucky enough to have ever driven a csl on full pipe,in the perfect surroundings,u'll know that not much can even get close to the csl driving experience!!just brilliant!! The csl's sharpness, the engines responses, the grip levels and the sound, are all sublime!!and for me the new m3 is just to heavy to seriously trouble a csl!! To your point of how many are running!!?? Im prity sure 422 grey csl's and 49 black csl's were brought to Britain!how many are left is another question!!

yeah... thnks for the feedback.. ive had the opportunity to run with a manual e92 m3 in sepang f1 circuit recently against a pro driver.. my csl easily can keep up even with conti sport contact3.. in the hands of better driver and cup tyres, i'm pretty sure my csl would leave the e92 without much problem..
