VW Takes The Scirocco Racing

Hardly has the Scirocco been launched and they’re already taking it racing, good news for aspiring owners as it will now be race proven. VW released a statement a couple of weeks ago that it will be campaigning a race prepped version of its latest release and to compete at the Nurburgring 24 hour race in the 2.0 liter turbo category in which a GTI took victory last year. The Scirocco racer will use the same 300-hp TFSI mated to VWs paddle-shifted DSG gearbox, a set up that got praise from two-time Le Mans champion, Hans-Joachim Stuck, he called it “one of the most uncomplicated racing cars” he’s ever raced. The driver line up for Team Scirocco consists of Stuck himself, double world rally champion Carlos Sainz, VW board member Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, all of whom raced for last years winning GTI team but this year includes a couple of automotive journalist
