Paris 2008: New Mazda MX-5 Unveiled

01_mx-5_liveAs similar as it may seem to the current MX-5, the 2009 Mazda MX-5 sports some convincing tweaks, as minor as they may be. The RX-8 inspired revisions to the front end may be difficult to spot but the new headlamps, five-point air dam and blistered arches all flow effortlessly into the same lines as its predecessor. Out back, the redesigned tail-lamps may appear to be the same and are equally as easy to miss but they are redesigned as well.

Under the hood, the new MX-5 gets an extra 500rpm before redline and an upgraded gearbox that has new carbon-coated synchronizers provide easier, smoother shifts. Additionally, new 16 and 17-inch aluminium wheels together with revised front suspension knuckles and roll center provide even more steering feel and a more confident ride.

I suspect this car would handle slightly less better than the old MX5. But since there is no drivetrain details, i could be wrong. Btu from image shots the rear boot seems to be longer than the old model.

The rear lamp looks weird though, but overall quite a nice car and it has a nice low driving position. Sat in one before.
