Subaru Technica International or better known to you and I as STi is extending its product range away from the traditional WRX and Forester to include the Subaru Legacy in its line up manic cars. The limited edition Legacy STi S402 Sedan and Touring models will be available for the Japanese market from June 27 onwards. The S402 is powered by a 2.5 liter turbocharged boxer engine but sadly, and it hurts to even type this, it is restricted to 282hp at 5,600rpm and torque figures run at 392Nm which is on offer from 2,000 to 4,800rpm. Of course, it’s a four-wheel drive and power is channeled to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, there are no levers to tug on to help you go faster, in here you do it yourself.
Other mechanical upgrades include a sport suspension, revised steering system (13:1 ratio) and more powerful six-pot front and two-pot rear Brembo brakes. Apart from the subtle STi bodykit that includes a carbon-fiber front spoiler, the S402 Legacys feature wider fenders (+20mm) that host a set of beautiful 18-inch BBS alloys wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires (235/40R18). Inside the most prominent features are the leather front bucket seats, the MOMO steering wheel and the “S402” plates.
