Coming Soon: Four-Door Mystery Lamborghini

image002Lamborghini has been flooding the internet with these teaser shots of a supposedly four door model. We have never quite been suckers for teasers but considering this could just be the most shocking and hopefully gorgeous machine to be driven out of Sant’Agata, it would have been cruel to keep all the excitement to ourselves.

Lamborghini is going to reveal this car at the Paris Motor Show tomorrow and word has it that it won’t be taking on any Enzo or Carrera GT this time around, it would actually have the up coming Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide locked in its cross hairs. If you haven’t already caught on, the intense rivalry between supercar manufacturers are now moving the game up a notch to include four-door saloons as well. Porsche, Aston Martin, Maserati, Mercedes and now Lamborghini all have four-doored models well within the supercar territory in terms of power and performance. All except one, Ferrari, but that’s a different story.

The project, which began less than five months ago and was given the go-ahead by Lamborghini bosses (independent of Ingolstadt), could share the Audi A8’s architecture with a front-mounted V10 or V12 engine aft of the strut towers for a front-midship arrangement. A V6 isn’t likely, but a next-generation V8 could be equipped on entry-level models. There’s no indication about how power will be delivered to the wheels, but all-wheel-drive seems plausible considering Lamborghini’s recent offerings.

Lamborghini is owned by Audi who is owned by Volkswagen who in turn is seeing itself being slowly but surely swallowed by Porsche, so could it be that the four-door Lambo shares its underpinnings with the Porsche Panamera?

Apparently a source at Lamborghini insisted that nothing from the Panamera will find its way to the Lambo, going on to say, “Lamborghini is at a point where we can set off in new and plausible directions with the entire brand image. In a sense, we need to be able to tell customers what they ought to like about our brand. We’re the experts.”

Lamborghini also revealed that the yet to be revealed super saloon may be called the Urus or Estoque.  Lamborghini released these teaser shots in installments since about two weeks ago and the latest of the four teasers, the headlight shot, shows a  horizontal placement which could spell a departure from the vertical headlight placement of the Gallardo and Murcielago, it could just be the first of future models to come with such a design. Till tomorrow then.

No, its is stated its a 4 door sedan. Or could be a Merc CLS style car. But from the sneak images, it does look like a coupe. but then again long time ago Lambo did have a 4 seater. Now its 4 doors. Also i remember seeing sultan of Brunei having a custom 4 door ferarri. hehehe.

See! I told you guys its time for supercar makers to make 4 door cars. Now if lambo makes money with this one, expect ferarri to follow suit.
