There’s nothing like the Bugatti Veyron, and if the disturbing trend of world oil prices continue, I’m guessing there will never be another machine like it, ever again. Common, quad-turbo’s, 1000hp, over 400km/h, it doesn’t get better than that unless Bugatti itself were to build another car to outclass itself, and that’s where things start to get interesting. A recent “secret and confidential” memo from within Bugatti itself states that the VW owned hypercar builder is considering ending production of its Veyron with a super massive bang.
Bugatti is believed to be working on a GT version of the Veyron which will see it’s already ridiculous stats get even more ridiculous. The rubber on the GT version will be dancing to the tune of 1350hp and will have a colossal 1018lb-ft of torque threatening to shred it and the driver to pieces if it gets its tune wrong. Though stopping a Veyron running at full flight (425km/h for the new GT) seems nigh on impossible, Bugatti doesn’t seem to think so and commissions four upgraded carbon ceramic brakes with new active aerodynamics to keep everything controllable and most important of all, usable.
The stats for the fastest GT ever are pretty astonishing to the point that it seems as if only F1 drivers are fit enough to drive it like it should be driven. The century sprint is scorched in a mere 2.4 seconds and it takes about 2.2 seconds to come back to a stand still. Can you just imagine the G’s? Me neither.
The most important aspect of running a car at 425km/h is keeping it grounded and to do that the rumoured GT will use an abundance of electronic gadgetry and upgraded electrical stability program. That does make sense though considering that the GT is 30% more powerful over the base Veyron and 1,350hp, as fun as it sounds, will definately be a handful to control.
If you are one of the 200 or so people to already own a $1.4 million dollar Veyron, you reportedly won’t be left out in the dark. According to the alleged memo, all Veyrons will be able to be retrofitted with the upgrade. The memo states that the Veyron GT would be available in March 2009 and it’ll be the last iteration before the next-gen Veyron arrives around 2012.
