BMW To Unveil 2010 M3 CSL

2008_bmw-m3coupe_hi014Rumour has it that BMW plans to unveil its stripped out, track ready M3 CSL at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s believed that BMW will use the same tricks it employed on the E46 M3 CSL in an effort to shave curb weight and increase performance. Predictably, luxuries like air conditioning, stereo and navigation won’t be offered, while the hood, bumper, booth and fenders will all be swapped with lighter carbon fiber pieces.

So while the weight loss program definately will increase the coupe’s performance, BMW will not just stop there. By contracting an additional 50horses, the E90 CSLs total output will be increased to a total of 470bhp that is reported to be good for a sub-four second century sprint on its way to a top speed of around 300km/h.

Apparently the production of the 2010 BMW M3 CSL will be limited to 100 units and will be priced at an estimated 90,000 Euros, or just over RM460,000 without including our exorbitant taxes.

When the 1 series came out, I couldn't like it. Perhaps if it ended up closer to what the 2002 was and was (much) lighter, cheaper, and had a very wonderful I4 (turboed or not, I don't care) then I would like it greater, but whatever. What frustrated me further was the certain M type that should really of course be named the M1. I felt that it just would not be suitable to match up the two M1s. However, since the 1 series first showed in the US, the M division has created 2 SUVs that don't even come with a manual. The Porsche Cayenne has one, was it that hard? Anyways, times are changing so go on and call it an M1. Superior to manufacture a good, or possibly awesome, auto than to not come up with it whatsoever just simply because a bundle of fanboys may get wounded.
