Video: The Best Of The 2008 Formula 1 World Championship

There hasn’t been a more exciting championship since the early and late 90s. The 2008 F1 Drivers World Championship showcased a new raise in talent across a number of teams and raised the competitiveness of the sport to a new level.

Mclaren driver Lewis Hamilton lived up to the immense talent and showmanship he displayed in 2007 to go on and ultimately win the Drivers World Championship although a slew of mistakes and other interference threatened to wreck his season by just a single point again. His team mate Heikki Kovolainen managed a single race win and a single pole position through his entire season and ultimately ended the season seventh best in the Drivers Standings.

Ferrari held on to their Constructors Championship for a second consecutive time as their World Champion driver Kimi Raikkonen was just a shadow of his former self with some dramatic crashes and bad luck. The ace driver for Ferrari this year was, as we all know – Felipe Massa. Some brilliant performances and some bad calls led to a loss of the 2008 Drivers Championship by just a single point in the final corner, of the final lap, of the final race of 2008. A fate bestowed upon Lewis Hamilton in the 2007 season, but maybe not so dramatically.

BMW proved to be worthy contenders but failed to carry the competitiveness later on into the season. Renault on the other hand started off the season on a bad note but got it together late in the season with Fernando Alonso winning the Singaporean GP and the Japanese GP back to back. But perhaps a little too late for any title hopes.

This video showcases the best of the 2008 Formula 1 season with some great backstage clips and other clips the tv didnt show. My personal favourite is Kimi snaking into Force India’s Adrian Sutil and Lewis’ now infamous short-cut.
