It’s not easy to turn road cars into race cars. It’s even more difficult to turn race cars into road cars but that’s exactly what Reiter Engineering has been doing lately. The factory supported Lamborghini race team also recently built a street legal variant of their Murcielago R-GT that competes in the FIA GT1 and European Le Mans Series and now they are offering a street legal version of their Gallardo GT3 racecar dubbed “Strada” – Italian for road/street.
Obviously based on the standard Gallardo, the 5-liter V10 racer features extensive carbon fiber bodywork and widened fenders presumably to house the larger wheel diameters and to aid aerodynamics. A new front fascia with shark style air ducts, side skirts and a large carbon fiber wing has also been added to aid aesthetics and also aerodynamics.
Reiter Engineering has managed to shave off nine kg’s by replacing the exhaust system with a large center-mounted single exhaust system. The system also adds an extra ten horses while new three-piece alloy wheels wrapped in ultra sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 2 race tyres help ensure every hp makes it to the road.
The interior surprisingly stay relatively stock but the seats have been replaced with leather covered racing units. The Reiter Engineering Gallardo may just be another tuned Lambo for the rich but it’s definately one of the cleaner designs around.
