Rumour: Mitsubishi Building Lancer SportBack CrossOver

July 31, 2008

mitsubishi-crossover-lancer_450opRumour has it that the bosses over at Mitsubishi are considering offering a Lancer Sportback Crossover to international markets by 2010. Essentially a Mitsubishi Lancer with a redesigned rear end and an increased ride height, the new model will also come equipped with a restyled fascia and protective body panels similar to those found on the old Subaru Outback and Audi Allroad.

Obviously based on the current Lancer, there is also word going around that the compact crossover will be fitted with the Evo IX’s all-wheel-drive system. If Mitsubishi ends up offering a 2 liter, 240hp turbocharged, Ralliart edition, the Sportback X could seriously shake up a market filled with boring Compact Utility Vehicles (CUVs).

This seems pretty logical for Mitsu. They’re just trying to keep up with the strong sales of the WRX hatch.

Working with VW to spread the word about the new Tiguan. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
