Paris Motor Show: Mazda Kiyora

As almost all things automotive these days, the theme of the Paris Motor Show is unsuprisingly ‘green’. So besides the supercar from Sant’Agata and a few others, almost all automotive makers displayed vehicles that stuck to the theme, like this Nagare-themed Mazda Kiyora.

Obviously taking inspiration from past design studies and its Japanese name which directly translates to “clean and pure”, the Kiyora is expected to influence future Mazda city cars namely the Mazda2. The four-seater city car is powered by a 1.3-liter petrol engine with direct injection and even more efficient combustion chambers mated to a six-speed auto gearbox.

Sticking to the green theme, weight and aerodynamics are two key elements of the Kiyora. A body made almost entirely of carbon fiber and with drag reduced by 10percent over the current Mazda2, the Kiyora will put out less than 90grams/kg of carbon if and when it goes into production.
