Malaysian Drivers Wanted For MSS Formula Geely

Formula Geely was introduced in China last year as an effort to seek out new talents among the Chinese but this year however, it is here in Malaysia to seek out talented Malaysians to fill the seats of its race cars. As it makes it debut in the Malaysian Super Series this weekend, Formula Geely is open to any interested Malaysian driver to feel the excitement of the new single seater race machine, powered by a 1.8 liter Formula Geely engine.

“We already have 16 confirmed drivers. But, we are also offering seats for any interested Malaysian drivers. The fee is RM15,000 and you only need to bring yourself, your racing helmet and racing suits; and of course, your racing license,” says event coordinator Gordon Goh, adding that the organizers had prepared 22 cars for the race.

“It is fun and exciting and we strongly believe that this new series would grow into a prominent series within the next few years,” said Goh, adding that interested drivers can contact him personally at 012-3324530.

“Alternatively, you can also contact SIC Events Manager Mr Kumar at the circuit. He would be able to help you as well,” said Goh, adding the race in Sepang would be the second round of the 2008 Formula Geely, which would run in seven rounds this year.

“We had the first round in Zhuhai and now in Sepang for Round 2. Round 3 will be in Chengdu in July, Round 4 in Shanghai; Round 5 in Beijing and Round 6 will be back in Zhuhai. The final round will be in Macau,” he said.

The race this weekend is set to feature the second round of the MSS championships which includes Supercars, Supersaloon, Supersixteen and the Hong Kong Classic Car Series.

A little refresher on what’s happening at MSS, Malaysian driver Wira Dani Daim leads the Supercar Championship over defending champion Dilantha Malagamuwa of Sri Lanka. Boy Wong Yew Choong leads both the 2000cc Supersaloon Championship and the 1600cc Supersixteen Championship.
