GT-Rs are Actually NOT Making 480bhp?
August 21, 2008
Apparently the guys at caranddriver.com managed to get their hands on 5 GT-Rs to either dyno-run or to drag-test. To their surprise, there were substantial variations on all 5 cars. Nissan claimed that the first four cars they tested were ‘early-build’ versions that received regular engine-computer software updates, which may account for the varied results that were recorded.

It was then concluded that even though the 5 GT-Rs tested gave different readings and up to a FULL second off the pace from one another, 3 of the Godzillas were making similar results. The three GT-Rs are actually making MORE than the claimed 480bhp. The estimated HP figures are actually closer to 520bhp which is almost 10% variations from quoted figures. Could this be why the VR38VETT was not nominated for Engine of the Year Award?
Anyways, no doubt it’s value for money considering GT-R carries ’supercar’ performance! Pay less and get more! Excellent!

And its not surprising for Nissan to quote a lower HP figure. This is because it cannot guarantee all the units will come out with the higher figures.
so is all depends on ur luck on getting which HP haha.. but of cos the min u will get still at least 480HP.. correct me if i am wrong
”Good street engines are built to the same tolerances as race engines at one tenth of one thousandth of an inch. All race engines are hand built and often go down to within 0.25hp on a 800hp engine, or 0.5hp to 1hp on a 1600 hp engine”
The variance in crank power from precision made parts is much less than a human can feel.
BTW, hand built = higher precision
