Great Car Heist of 2008: Thieves Make Off with Evo, Impreza, 911 & Gallardo
April 3, 2008
It seems that we are not the only ones suffering from major car theft problems, what went on in the UK this past Saturday night was something movies are made of. In fact, the UK press is comparing the robbery to the 2000 Gone in 60 Seconds movie. This past Saturday night, thieves broke into the Stourbridge, West Midlands showroom of Xtreme UK and made off with a total nine cars including Renault Clio V6, two Subaru Impreza WRXs, three Mitsubishi Evolutions, a Porsche 911 and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
According to Britain’s Express & Star the total value of the vehicles stolen is somewhere close to $600,000. Xtreme UK is well known in the UK for its performance packages including the XT400 upgrade that increases the EVO’s output to 370-hp. No word on whether these cars were tricked out or not. Xtreme UK features a live showroom and workshop Web cams on its site, however, those haven’t been helpful to the police.
If it was in Malaysia, the cars would have been chopped up by now, I wonder how they work in the UK? The cars shipped to Africa possibly? Or probably the Middle East?
