Finally: Subaru Impreza Coupe
June 5, 2008
As the world finally comes to terms with Subaru’s shocking design language, the Japanese boxer maker now introduces its most striking and stylish Impreza coupe ever to rock boxer fans.
Developed in collaboration with Subaru owner Toyota, the Impreza coupe goes head to head with the BMW 3-Series Coupe and Nissan 350Z with its stout, athletic appearance. Subaru hasn’t skimped on performance either and will offer a choice of two engine options; a normally aspirated 2.0 liter engine that’s good for around 180bhp, and the legendary STi derived 2.5 liter powerplant that churns out 300bhp.
Reports suggest that the entry level coupe will feature a lightweight and less expensive rear wheel drive set up that will definitely go down pretty well with the drift community. On the other hand, the STi will of course live up to Subaru credo and will lay down power via all four wheels. Expect it in Malaysia somewhere at the end of 2010 or the first half of 2011.

When I was having my eyes on the article title, I was thinking like “wow! they are going to make 22B! Awesome!”. After reading through, I was disappointed. Too bad. It’d be cool if Subaru intends to produce the next gen 22B.
From my p.o.v, Subaru should just drop off the “Impreza” name for this coupe and give it a new name if it were to be a RWD. Simply because, Impreza has always been an AWD and should always be no matter what.
do you really think that toyota knows how to design a sports car?
i would say toyota knows hw to stir many fans peculiar taste.
supra,z33 etc juz to name a few..
and now the new subaru..marvelous!!
i dont really like this car, yes the design is nice, but why make a hatchback suddenly..
i really really miss the old ones.

fulci.. Toyota didnt design this car.. Subaru did.. Both companies did design the basic platform of the car together.. But when it comes to visual design.. Toyota and Subaru went different ways.. But not too worry.. Toyota is also creating a RWD coupe based on the same platform.. Think its a replacement for the Silvia S15.. We’ll find out who’s better at designing rides then..
question : replacement for S15? toyota do collaboration with nissan?
