FaceBook Helps Police Find Stolen Car
April 11, 2008
As car thieves wise up and are able to neutralize the most complicated of alarms, so do the victims in the war against car thieves. Using any means available to them including sending out text messages and announcing it to the local grapevine, car theft victims have now turned to the social networking site, Friendster.
According to reports, police in Shrebury had urged Facebook users to keep a look out for a stolen Volkswagen Beetle. After an appeal was placed on Facebook through groups and Facebook flyer adds, a woman had told officers she had seen the Beetle in a car park.
“The stolen vehicle has been recovered and the vehicle owner has been informed,” a spokesman for West Mercia Police said. “This is a very unusual way of recovering a stolen vehicle but we would like to thank the eagle-eyed member of the public for her assistance.”
Now when will we start hearing about such things happening here in Boleh Land? We already have the infrastructure to support such a recovery program its just a matter of getting everybody to work together. Doesn’t matter if you don’t know the car theft victim, if the thief gets caught, that’s one less thief that will be looking at jacking your car. Keep your heads up and eyes sharp.
