Civic Hybrid To Cost Between RM125,000 to RM130,000: Honda Malaysia Increases Sales Target for Civic Hybrid

Petaling Jaya, October 20, 2008 – Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd today announced that the Civic Hybrid will now cost between RM125,000 to RM130,000 after taking into consideration the exemption of 100% import duty and 50% excise duty on new hybrid CBU vehicles below 2,000 cc as announced in the Budget 2009. “With this revised pricing for the Civic Hybrid, we are also increasing our sales target for the Civic Hybrid to 30 units per month, from the original target of 5 units per month,” said Mr Atsushi Fujimoto, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd. “Globally, there has been overwhelming demand for the Civic Hybrid and Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Japan is currently facing a shortage of supply to meet the increased demand. Customers who have placed orders for the Civic Hybrid can expect to receive their cars by February 2009. The actual price of the Civic Hybrid can only be determined in February when the first batch of the Civic Hybrids arrive in Malaysia,” Mr. Fujimoto added. 
With the revised pricing for the Civic Hybrid, Honda Malaysia believes that it will encourage more Malaysians to opt for environmentally responsible technology that are also fuel-efficient. The Civic Hybrid can give up to 31 km/litre, significantly more than most conventional engine vehicles. 
As the pioneer in introducing Hybrid technology to Malaysians, Honda will continue to educate and build awareness of the Hybrid technology amongst Malaysians. The urgency to promote advanced technology that are fuel efficient and reduce fuel consumption is a worldwide need to decelerate climate change and also lessen dependence on fossil energy. Prices will drop (if people support hybrid technology) and technology will be more advance in couple of years time.

Haha, don’t be so happy, definitely there are charges even zero fuel consumption. But should be cheaper.
Its a hybrid. Not an all electric car. Needs fuel to recharge the battery when in motion.
what will be the price of the honda civic 1.8 and 2.0 be if the price of the hybrid civic is reduce

wow…even without import duty and excise duty, this car still at that price? or is it car without tax price + honda profit???
if is not? then i dont understand y ppl keep saying remove the import taxes n excise duty the car will be “dirt” cheap..

Cost of repairs – ……. hmmm…… Just ask the hybrid battery replacement package. he he
Whatever the case, this hybrid technology is only a preview of low emmisions cars. There are hydrogen to consider too.
if the price of 1.8 and 2.0 will be the same …ppl rather go for the hybrid and the sale of the 1.8 and 2.0 will drop
130k still no a good price.. the best price is between 105k to 110k.
Who ever said ‘going green’ is inexpensive?
At the initial stage, ‘green’ cars such as hybrid and hydrogen powered cars will definitely be expensive. This is because it is not yet implemented widely.
Take hydrogen powered cars for example. If you buy one, chances are you won’t find a petrol kiosk that provides hydrogen power anywhere near you. Therefore, it is considered inaccessible.
It may be costly now, but in the long run, it will definitely help us preserve the environment.
