As the FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix celebrates the success for the first-ever floodlit night race in Formula One history, here are a few of the numbers behind the story.
- Fernando Alonso. The first night race winner in Grand Prix history.
- 5.067 km The lap distance of the Marina Bay Circuit
- 61 laps The race distance (308.95 km) completed by Fernando Alonso in 1 hour 57 minutes 16.304 seconds
- 99 The age of the historic Anderson Bridge, just before Turn 13. Built in 1909, it was originally designed to handle bullock-carts.
- 104.014 seconds Fastest qualifying lap (1m 44.014s), set by the Ferrari of Felipe Massa in Q2.
- 172.740 km/h Average speed for the fastest lap of the race. 1m 45.599s set by the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen.
- 220 metres Distance calculated that Felipe Massa dragged his refuelling rig – and the distance the Ferrari mechanics had to sprint to retrieve it!
- 298 km/h Fastest speed recorded. Heikki Kovalainen’s McLaren Mercedes at the speed trap on Raffles Boulevard, between turn 6 and turn 7.
- 800 The Singapore Grand Prix was the sport’s 800th World Championship race
- 1,500 The number of 2,000 watt lighting units, used to illuminate the track
- 4,000 The number of raceday guests in the exclusive Formula One Paddock Club. A sell-out and a record number at a Grand Prix.
- 100,000+ The sell-out, capacity crowd, who watched the Singapore Grand Prix trackside on Sunday evening.
- 30 million The number of TV viewers in the five main European markets of France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, estimated to have watched the live coverage of the Formula 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.
- 27 September Date of the 2009 FORMULA 1™ SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX
