Staying true to the German tradition of unveiling a car months before it’s official debut, Audi has revealed initial details and photos of its facelifted A6 sedan. Officially due at October’s Paris Motor Show, the A6 and S6 offer a barge of aesthetic upgrades that include a redesigned booth and bumper and also A4 inspired LED taillights.
Up front the upgrade might not be so visible to the untrained eye as it boasts a slightly revised single-frame grill and a new front bumper with redesigned air vents and fog lights. The xenon plus headlights that are offered as an option, also have been redesigned and now feature LED daytime running light with six LEDs each.
The interior has also received its fair share of upgrades that include among others an instrument panel that uses new higher-resolution graphics. Besides that, all versions of the 2009 A6 will benefit from Audi’s new-generation MMI control system that features a new 7-inch, high-resolution screen.
To keep the car grounded and comfortable in all road situations, Audi has fine tuned the the suspension of the A6 with new large diameter, front-axle shock absorbers that operate within an optimized valve system. The ride height has also been lowered for those adrenalin induced moments that require just that much more grip and feel.
Together with the facelift A6, Audi is introducing its latest addition to the usual engine line up. The new supercharged 3-liter V6 engine with TFSI technology delivers an output of 290hp and a maximum torque of 310lb-ft available between 2,500 and 4,850rpm. With a bagful of electronic wizardry like tiptronic transmission and quattro (all-wheel-drive) drive train, the A6 Sedan 3.0 TFSI accelerates from 0-100 in just 5.9seconds and is electronically cut off at 250km/h. According to Audi, the A6 3.0 TFSI has an average fuel consumption of 9.5liters per 100kilometers.
