4-door GTR by Infiniti
July 29, 2008
First it was the CABRIOLET, now there are speculations on the possibilities of the Infiniti Premium Midship (PM), a GTR based sedan!
The previous R34 Skylines came in the 4 door sedan trim, so would it be natural to think that the R35 sedan would follow too? If this car becomes a reality expect interesting things for that 4 door sedan Nurburgring record currently held by the Caddilac CTS-V.

Japan’s Car Top magazine (September issue) claims they scooped a Nissan super sedan project based on the R35 GTR scheduled for release in 2011. A rendering on the front cover of the magazine shows a silver 4 door Nissan GTR. The magazine says that the super sedan will come with most of the performance elements found in the R35 GTR.
This new development would surely send warnings across the globe that the GTR is soon going to be challenging the rest of the super sedans.

So all those nonsense of racing heritage, 2 door racing sports car mojo is flushed down the toilet with such reports. Congratulations nissan… BIG liar!!
And then next, cab version of GTR, how about a hatch version? Maybe a SUV GTR or something. So Nissan is riding the Toyota way with their baby. 1 engine shared between models. What a rip off. Its not exclusive anymore. That old guy next to you would have the same technical gizmo in his 4 door ride compared to your 2 door one!
So effectively they would kill their own G35 Skyline too. Nonsence greedy Nissan.

Losses people. Losses!
And the article link posted after your initial post didn’t make sense too.
Ok, here’s the catch, Infinity is the luxury flagship Nissan carrier in the US. Like Lexus to Toyota.
Each to their own, they have their own market. One is carrying the performance flagship, and the other is carrying luxury performance line. So it makes sense after all for Infinity to produce a 4-door luxury version of the highly sucessful Nissan GT-R.
Just like Lexus did with the 3-litre twinturbo Soarer deriving from the highly successful Toyota Supra. Did any one then criticised the Lexus Soarer as much as you did to Infinity?
At the end of the day, US is the largest market for Nissan outside of Japan, and Infinity is performing as well as the Nissan brand itself.
that’s the reason why GTR (32, 33, 34) only come out with a right-hand-drive.
japanese always keep the best for thier own ppl to use. that’s why and acura will not be as good as honda, toyota-lexus, nissan-infinity. in terms of performance of course
My grunt with Nissan is, their engineers/designers slap journalist hands when they say “Wow a new Skyline GTR!” You get me?!
Nissan said its a fabled machine. With a 4 door version, its still a GTR? Isn’t a 4 door GTR a Skyline? What place does a 4 door GTR have in supercar territory? Its sacrilege. In that case they might as well make a GTR suv because they don’t have one. Its easy isn’t it? Nissan 350Z then plonk the same engine in a Nissan Murano. Then a GTR plonk the V6 inside a 2 door SUV and call it Nissan GAYLO, or something.
