MPT Time Attack Round 2 2008 - Sepang Circuit

Round 2 of the MPT Super Sprint was probably the most interesting. Rain and a wet track ensured so not only for the driver’s but for the spectators and the photographers. It started off as a bright sunny day and a dry track at perfect morning temperature - something that’s a blessing in Sepang.

Come afternoon, the heavens let rip during the one hour break everybody got for lunch and subsided in time for the start but the circuit was wet in all the right places. This saw a few spin-outs and gravel trap moments, some way out of the view of cameras.

Desmond Soh took top honours in his Subaru Impreza clocking a time of 2:18.117 on slicks and seven seconds after, Derick Ang in his Mitsubishi Evo 9 came in at a time of 2:25.489 also wearing slicks. A Honda Integra DC5 spoilt what would have been a Evo 9 1-2 finish as Eddie Ng just marginally proved to be faster than the turbocharged racer with a time of 2:27.383. Chai Meng Kheng piloted the second Evo 9 to come in fourth with a time of 2:27.397. Click here to view the full results table. The MPT Super Sprint comes visiting again in ‘09.     Malaysian organiser should have come up with this sort of event, other then the Super Series and Merdeka, which are all towards the more professional racing. Track days junkies should be given a chance to challenge themselves in their own car in appropriate category. cheers

    Edge Tuning’s Subaru the best??? Congrat’s Desmon? You mean Desmond Soh and his WRX do you??

    If so, get your workshops right dude, that Rex with the FTY for this event is from STPowered, Edge Tuning doesn’t even have any car featured inside! I’d like to see you say that in front of Desmond’s face man, geez….
