HPC-ZTH Race Team – Night Practice
August 20, 2008
Just a little more than a week to go and the team went for its night practice yesterday. The car is slowly coming together although there were some last minute gearbox works and wheel alignments done earlier in the day to make sure our outing was purposeful. With our 2zz engine currently limited to 6k rpm and the VVTL-i not functioning, our lap-times last night seem reasonable.

Hopefully the new clutch, flywheel, VVTL-i repair and the dyno tuning that are gonna be done today would slash a few more seconds.

Tom’s Stickers did a great job with the decals although a few more stickers for additional sponsors are still coming in. Thanks to all who participated in funding the team.

The morale of the drivers are very good and most of the team members were present to support wherever possible. The drivers were consistently getting improved lap times as the night went on. We are confident that our drivers would make us proud.

We might be coming to Sepang again this evening to test out the tuning works and to further familiarize the drivers with the limited visibility of night driving. In the meantime, check out these pictures from last night.

Who’s that gorgeous ZTH driver?
i wanna know too! =]
With the VVTL-i not functioning, the car is down about 40+ HP – i.e. its not competitive against others in its class.
Stating the obvious: 2ZZ motor revs to 8100-8400rpms with the valve lift coming online at 6100rpm.
The character of the car is going to change drastically when you get the VVTL-i working. Do show us the dyno graphs if possible.
All the best, ZTH!!!
is that James Russell??
Hey, that’s James Russell. MRC Driver..
seen the car on the flat bed yesterday morning exiting SIC’s junction heading towards KL while I was on a bus heading to LCCT. Im guessing it was on its way to get it fixed and tuned. Also, there was a silver MarkX followed behind the flat bed. =P
i saw that white and blue Porsche GT3RS , was at Bangsar Jalan Ara at someones house , there was a party i think , saw that porsche , a Gt2 silver colour and many more exotic cars….who does it belong to by the way. The celica from zth look awesome , and who is that female driver , any reason why a girl was picked to race 4 this event
anyway, the one that called james russell looks like one of the student in my uni.is he still studying?hehehe

Hi all.. thanks for the kind words and support.. come over and cheer for the team ok?! we are still short of a lollipop guy..
Keshy would be posting up the drivers’ profile soon. Watch out for that feature soon!
Ronnie’s right. James is friendly. I met and chat with him last year at the MR7 parc ferme in JB. At that time, he share information about how to owned legal 4WD rally cars at a slight of a price.
Btw..good luck to team HPC-ZTH this year!
whose tat girl!?
Good luck to the ZZT231,
Nevertheless, the 2ZZ-LIFT, get it functioning and it should for the engine to last perfectly during the race.
All the best to the driver and the car!
Lift comes in at 6krpm or 6.2krpm depending on the ecu. gotta change the vvtL filter and get the 3rd generation Lift bolts to solve the Lift problem.
kahfui and Barbarian,
your guys are absolutely right..!
the same engine used in those lotus exiges should last the whole race, fingers crossed… hopefully the drivers can baby the engine whenever possible..
the lift bolts were changed and the engine is currently running ever so sweetly.. sub 2:40..
super!
Team HPC-ZTH is going racing tomorrow
