You must have noticed a state of nothingness on the site over this past weekend. Well that’s because we were all partying away in Singapore and covering the biggest Singaporean motorshow of 2008. Carrerista Jamboree – was organized to fulfill the increased interest in motorsports after the Formula 1 circus left town in September.
So instead of having to wait another year for another dose of adrenalin packed motorsport event, MPT Motor the organizer of the show brings to you the largest motorshow of 2008 on either side of the Johor straits. It’s true, no Malaysian show in 2008 has lived up to what MPT Motor managed to pull off and full props to them for an amazing event.
Held at the Changi Exhibition Centre, the venue also plays host to the Singapore Aerospace Show. That’s right, the place is big enough to park airplanes in and that’s just the indoor area. You could manage an entire fleet of military airplanes numbering in the hundreds at the 60,000 square meter outdoor area, or you could have a karting and drifting track and an all out quarter mile drag strip in the same area, depending on what gets you off.
Drifting, karting and dragging is what Carrerista Jamboree 2008 had to offer outdoors while the exhibition went on indoors. Truly a great place to indulge in your motoring needs or to take your family for a day out. Satisfaction guaranteed.
Exhibitors included Singapore’s best like Garage-R, Silent, ST Powered and others. Cars on display included over ten unique Nissan GTR’s, the original Yokomo IS220-R Altezza directly from HKS Japan, the RS-R Supra, J’s Racing S2000, Amuse S2000, Silent S15, and the list goes on.
But the star attraction of the show was the one man who had the most number of wins at the D1 Grand Prix till the record was beaten in 2005. Nobuteru Taniguchi flew in to support the Garage-R booth, judge the drifting competition and to perform drifting demonstrations himself. A great sport with great showmanship, Taniguchi-san will be present all through the five days, performing, and entertaining.
No motorshow is complete without it’s racequeens and the Carrerista Jamboree had its share of hot girls squealing and smiling to attendees, making their visit all the more exciting. The show continues till the 31st and if you’re in Singapore and you’re a true car nut, then head on down to the Changi Exhibiton Centre as there will also be a New Year countdown party complete with fireworks display to usher in 2009.
A great show at a great venue and with great exhibitors. With a place as big as that and the enthusiasm the organizers have, expect the Jamboree to grow into one of the largest in Asia with motoring powerhouses rushing to exhibit. A must visit for the motoring junkie. Check out the gallery below to check out all the cars, girls and attractions.
